Pet Products Designed for Pets — Not Just for Human Eyes
Pet Products Designed for Pets — Not Just for Human Eyes There’s a question we started asking early on at Blipoli — one that sounds simple, but changed everything: Are most pet products actually designed for pets? Or for the humans who buy them? What Roii Taught Us When Roii first came home, he was still recovering from a long illness. After months of treatment, he survived — but lost all of his teeth along the way. We tried buying him beautiful pet beds and soft little nests, hoping they would make him feel comfortable and safe. But strangely, he rarely used them for long. Instead, he always returned to the same places: a worn cotton blanket, a soft shirt left on the sofa, or a quiet corner with gentle sunlight. That was when we understood something important. Roii didn’t care how something looked. He only cared how it felt. Why Most Pet Products Are Designed for Human Eyes Humans naturally focus on aesthetics, trends, and interior styling. We want pet products that look beautiful in our homes, match our sofas, and photograph well. There’s nothing wrong with that — aesthetics matter. But cats and dogs experience the world very differently from the way we do. When we design only for human preferences, we often miss what actually matters to the animal living with those products every day. Truly pet-friendly products need to consider both: how they look to us, and how they feel to them. How Pets Actually See the World Research suggests that dogs and cats perceive color quite differently from humans. Their vision is more limited in range, and many red or highly saturated tones appear much less vivid to them — often fading into muted, indistinct shades. Softer blues and yellow-green tones are generally easier for them to distinguish and respond to. This doesn’t mean every pet product needs to be blue or green. But when we choose calmer, softer tones at Blipoli, we’re not only thinking about what looks good in a living room — we’re also thinking about what might feel a little quieter and more familiar to the pet resting inside it. Why Touch Matters More Than You Think Beyond color, we became deeply sensitive to touch and texture. Cats and dogs experience comfort through their bodies first — through softness, warmth, breathability, and familiarity. A pet doesn’t evaluate whether something looks expensive or on-trend. They only know whether it feels safe enough to curl up in and stay. That’s why our beds, nests, and fabric pieces are made with carefully selected skin-friendly materials and natural cotton filling, chosen for their gentle texture and breathable comfort. Designing Pet Products with Pets in Mind Every detail at Blipoli is created with one simple thought: Not just “Will this look beautiful in a home?” But also: “Will this feel safe and comforting for the small life resting inside it?” We believe the best pet products work for everyone — beautiful enough for the humans who choose them, and genuinely comfortable for the pets who live in them. That’s the standard we hold ourselves to at Blipoli. And it started with one toothless little cat who just wanted a soft, quiet place to rest.
